Guwahati News Desk: Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma laid the foundation stone of ‘Nature Park’ at Assam Khadi and Village Industries Board campus at Hengrabari in Guwahati City on Friday.
The park to be constructed by Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) at 14 bighas land that was allotted by the government of Assam.
The total cost of the upcoming park is worth Rs 11.93 crore which will include a watch tower, cafeteria, playing area for children, meditation centre, nursery etc.
On the other hand, a Botanical Garden to be set up at the old jail campus in Fancy Bazar and another park is being built at the Maligaon Housing Board site.
The upcoming parks would provide recreational opportunities while fulfils the need for open space in Guwahati City.
During the foundation, laid ceremony Urban Minister Ashok Singhal, MP Queen Ojha, MLA Atul Bora were also present.
Assam CM Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “Laid foundation stone of ‘Nature Park’ at Assam Khadi & Village Industries Board campus at Hengrabari. The park would be built by GMDA on a plot more than 14 bighas at Rs 11.93 cr & would have watch tower, cafeteria, playing area for children, meditation centre, nursery etc. It would provide recreational opportunities while fulfilling need of open space in Ghy. A Botanical Garden will be built at old jail campus in Fancy Bazaar; another park is being built at Maligaon Housing Board site.”
