Guwahati News Desk: New Zealand inched closer to the semi-finals after defeating Namibia by 52 runs in the ICC T20 World Cup on Friday.

The match took palce at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Friday.

Chasing a target of 164, Namibia were restricted to 111/7 after 20 overs.

The pair of James Neesham and Glenn Phillips allowed New Zealand to add 76 runs in 36 balls to help their side finish their innings on a strong note.

Neesham finished the innings unbeaten on 35 from 23 balls, while his partner Phillip scored 39 off 21 deliveries.

On the other hand, Namibia in response got off to a decent start with the openers adding 47 runs for the first wicket. However, the team kept losing wickets at regular intervals after that and could only muster 111/7 in 20 overs.

The players of team New Zealand included of Martin Guptill, Daryl Mitchell, Kane Williamson (c), Devon Conway (wk), Glenn Phillips, James Neesham, Mitchell Santner, Adam Milne, Tim Southee, Ish Sodhi and Trent Boult.

The players of team Namibia included of Stephen Baard, Michael van Lingen, Craig Williams, Gerhard Erasmus (c), David Wiese, JJ Smit, Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton, Zane Green (wk), Karl Birkenstock, Ruben Trumpelmann and Bernard Scholtz.

Eventually, the final score of the match between Namibia and New Zealand mounted up to New Zealand’s being 163/4 (20.0) and Namibia’s being 111/7 (20.0).

Furthermore, it was James Neesham who was titled as the “Player of the Match”.

Regarding the match between India and Scotland, India successfully attained victory over Scotland by 8 wickets.

At the very start of the run-chase, the Indian openers KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma provided India with a solid platform, helping the team to register a thumping 8-wicket victory with 13.3 overs to spare.

The match took place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Friday.

In Friday ‘s match Rahul scored a magnificent half-century in only 18 balls while Suryakumar Yadav ended the match with a six.

Although, this win has helped India better their net run-rate significantly, but the team is still dependent on the results of New Zealand and Afghanistan.

On the other hand, it was Scotland’s fourth match in the Super 12 game of the T20 World Cup 2021.

In addition, opener George Munsey top-scored for Scotland with his 24-run knock.

The players of team India included of KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli(c), Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant(w), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammed Shami, Varun Chakaravarthy and Jasprit Bumrah.

The players of team Scotland included of George Munsey, Kyle Coetzer(c), Matthew Cross(w), Richie Berrington, Calum MacLeod, Michael Leask, Chris Greaves, Mark Watt, Safyaan Sharif, Alasdair Evans and Bradley Wheal.

Eventually, the final score of the match between India and Scotland mounted up to India’s being 89/2 (6.3) and Scotland’s being 85/10 (17.4).

Furthermore, it was Ravindra Jadeja who was titled as the “Player of the Match”.
