Guwahati News Desk: At least two people were apprehended by Guwahati Police with a huge quantity of drugs from Jorabat in Guwahati on Wednesday.
Based on an intelligence report, Guwahati Police seized a suspected truck bearing registration number‘AS 01 DD 9192’ and recovered 205 soap cases of Heroin weighing 2.5 kgs.
According to the sources, the accused were identified as Dipak Sarma (driver) and Jamminlal (handyman) who have brought the vehicle by hiding drugs inside the oil tank. The vehicle is still under observation as police officials are still searching to find out any suspected material from the hidden compartment from the truck.
Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “#AssamAgainstDrugs. Whatever means the drugs mafia may choose to hoodwink Police – they will never succeed. @GuwahatiPol fished out 205 soap cases of Heroin (about 2.5 kgs) from the petrol tank of this truck. Two residents of two other states nabbed.”
