Guwahati News Desk: The vintage DC bungalow of Guwahati situated in Pan Bazar has been converted into Brahmaputra River Heritage Centre by the government of Assam.
The newly developed heritage centre will be inaugurated by by Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on October 3 and later the heritage side will be open for the public.
The DC bungalow was renovated and updated as one of the tourist destination in Guwahati city with a cost worth Rs 9 crore.
Earlier, the government has decided to restore the bungalow in 2021 but it was transformed into a heritage centre in Guwahati.
The Brahmaputra River Heritage Centre will attracted many tourist across the State and country as it is situated in the banks of river Brahmaputra as it will be one of the most beautiful tourist site of Guwahati City once it will be opened.
The DC bungalow was set up by the British in the mid 19th century which engaged with lots of history of Assam at the time of Indiaâs independence.
After India received independence from the British rule the historical bungalow that was left was officials declared as the residence of the DC.
