Guwahati News Desk: In a meeting held on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed the progress of the augmentation and availability of oxygen, as more than 1,500 Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) oxygen plants are coming up across India.
These upcoming oxygen plants include those being built with the contribution from the PM CARES fund as well as from various ministries and PSUs.
At the review meeting, PM Modi asked the officials to ensure that the oxygen plants are functional at the earliest and also told them to work closely with the state governments in this regard. He asked the officials to further ensure about the adequate training of the hospital staff on operation and the maintenance of the oxygen plants.
According to the Prime Ministerâs Office (PMO), these plants will be supporting more than 4 lakh oxygenated beds once functional.
Modi further informed the officials that each district must have trained personnel available. In response to which, the officials informed Modi that a training module prepared by experts is in place, targeting the training of around 8,000 people across the country.
The PM further informed the officials to deploy advanced technology like IoT, for tracking the performance and functioning of the oxygen plants at the local and national level.
The second wave of coronavirus witnessed numerous reports of severe oxygen shortage from all across the country and primarily from the capital, Delhi. For which the Union government has been taking essential measures in coordination with the states to boost the production and supply of the life-saving gas.
Meanwhile, many experts have been pointing that a possible third wave might hit India very soon and for this reason, the PM has decided to take stock of the situation, for which a number of meetings are being held in this regard.
