Guwahati News Desk: A tragic incident took place after a military plane carrying 92 people crashes down in the southern part of Philippine on Sunday.
Most of the people are army personnel carrying in the aircraft, says chief of the armed forces.
According to the sources, at least 40 people have been rescued so far as rescue team immediately rushed on the spot to control the unfortunate situation. The rescue mission has already started in the area to save the remaining people on the plane.
General Cirilito Sobejana says, “The responders are currently at the site and putting all their effort, as we are praying we can saves more lives”.
According to the report, the incident took place as C-130 Hercules transport aircraft crashed in the southern Philippines while trying to land on Joho Island in the Sulu province but somehow missed the runway which leads to the massive tragic crashes.
The troops were moving from Cagayan de Oro on the southern island of Mindanao and later missed the runway. Later the aircraft tried to regain the original track but failed to make it happen, General Sobejana stated.
According to the latest report, at least 17 army personnel were killed and 40 wounded and the injured were immediately shifted to the nearest hospital.
As per sources, helicopters were deployed in the incident area for immediate relief and transporting the injured officials.
Majority of the passenger on the plane were recent graduates of basic military traning and were moving to the Joho island as a part of a joint task force to fight terrorism in the Musllim-majority region, sources added.
