Guwahati News Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his 152nd birth anniversary.
Gandhi Jayanti, celebrated on October 2, is a special day for all Indians as it is an occasion to remember Gandhiji’s struggles and his sacrifices for the well being of our nation.
Asserting that Gandhiji’s life and ideas will inspire every generation to walk the path of their duties, Modi said, “I bow to respected Bapu on Gandhi Jayanti. His noble principles are globally relevant and give strength to millions.”
The PM’s twitter post read, “His life based on values and principles will always be a source of inspiration for all citizens.”
The Prime Minister also proceeded to visit Raj Ghat and Vijay Ghat, memorials of Gandhiji and of India’s second Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, respectively, to pay floral tributes to them.
Moreover, an interfaith prayer meeting was held at Raj Ghat, where Gandhiji’s favourite devotional songs were rendered.
