Guwahati News Desk: The veteran Congress leader Tajdar Babar breathed her last on Saturday.
As per the sources, Babar was admitted to a private-empaneled Covid-19 hospital in Vadodara for treatment last week after she complained of having fever and eventually tested positive for Covid-19.
While paying tribute to the MLA, the Congress party said that her body was kept in the community building Nizamuddin East from 12:00 noon to 4:30 pm for the last darshan.
Expressing his condolences towards Babar’s family and friends, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also tweeted, “We remember her commitment towards the people of Delhi and the values of the Congress party.”
Babar, an Indian politician and also the mother of ex-mayor of Delhi Farhad Suri, was a three-term MLA, i.e. she was a member of the First, Second and Third Legislative Assembly of Delhi.
She was an MLA from the erstwhile Minto Road constituency, which later became a part of the New Delhi Assembly, that was earlier represented by former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and now by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
In addition, she was also the former Chief of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC).
Further calling her a “strong pillar of Congress party”, the spokesperson for Congress, Pawan Khera, posted a tweet that read, “Mrs. Tajdar Babar was a strong pillar of @INCDelhi for decades. Her work for the most marginalised sections of society will always inspire. Deepest condolences to @YasminKidwai & Farhad Suri. #RIP”.
