On this day in the year 1948, Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated by Nathuram Godse who was against the ideal of Mahatma Gandhi as he leads the nation to freedom from British colonial rule.
Indian President Ram Nath Kovind and Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu also paid tribute to Gandhiji on his death anniversary.
