Guwahati News Desk: The popular Punjabi singer and rapper Sidhu Moosewala joined the Congress on Friday.
In Friday’s event, Moosewala joined the Congress in the presence of state Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and party State Chief Navjot Singh Sidhu.
The Congress Chief of Punjab referred to Moosewala as a youth icon and an “international figure.”
He further said, “Sidhu Moosewala is joining our family. I welcome him in the Congress fold.”
Expressing about his motive behind joining the party, Moosewala asserted, “I am not entering politics for status or to earn praise. I want to become a part of the system to transform it. I am joining the Congress to raise the voices of the people. I am joining the Congress as the party has leaders who have come from common families. For instance, cabinet minister Amrinder Singh Raja Warring has risen from a common family.”
Moreover, while welcoming the singer in the party fold, Channi said Moosewala became a “big artist with his sheer hard work and won hearts millions of people with his songs”‘.
Regarding the singer, Moosewala, his real name is Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu and he hails from Moosa village in Mansa district, where his mother is a village head.
Furthermore, the singer had earlier faced criticism for promoting violence and gun culture in his songs.
