Guwahati News Desk: COVID-19 positive cases were tremendously seen increasing in Guwahati in the recent day.
The government of Assam has extended its curfew timing to 5 pm from 2 pm as all the market areas, shops and establishments were shut down at 4 pm.
Kamrup Metro reported new 228 COVID-19 cases on Saturday. Earlier, on Friday Kamrup Metro reported 247 COVID-19 positive cases.
The positive cases were reported above 200 since July 8 which has brought a bit of worry both for the people and administration.
While talking to a resident of Guwahati, Sandeep Kashyap said, “In the last two days Kamrup Metro reported more than 200 cases as many locals of Guwahati were seen out after the curfew timing for cycling and walking which is completely against the administration rules and has led in increasing COVID-19 cases”.
While according to Manas Lahkar, “It is regular and very common to see that no social distance were seen in the market places like Uzanbazar, Borbari, Ulubari, Six Mile etc which leads numbers of rising COVID-19 cases”.
“Some people do not wear mask even in public places along with food and street vendors, while some people wears mask but not perfectly. People were seen gathering in fish shops, meat shops”, Lahkar added.
Deep J Sarma another resident of Guwahati stated, “When people come out for evening walk after curfew timing many small shops were seen to be open and started selling water bottles, pan masala, juices, chocolates, etc to the people which is a complete illegal sign and breaking norms of the administration for which today we have witnessed more COVID-19 positive cases in two days which is a big thing.”
Continuously on July 9 and July 10 more than 200 cases reported in Kamrup Metro as till now active cases stands to 21,202 numbers and the positivity rates reached to 1.79 per cent.
