Guwahati News Desk: After 210 people died in COVID-19 disease in Assam in the last three days, many residents of Guwahati wanted a complete lockdown to put a hold in the rising number of COVID-19 cases.
Assam reported 15,350 COVID-19 positive cases in the last 72 hours. Kamrup Metro alone reported 4,412 positive cases in the last three days.
Speaking to Hello Guwahati, Shaan Hussain Deka, a resident of Guwahati says, “The COVID situation in the past week has become worse in Assam, with the rising death toll. Which concerns me a lot. Yes, for safety of my family I do want a complete lockdown for few weeks in the State to cut down and break the chain of coronavirus, but in the second thought I feel bad for the daily earners because they will suffer if there’s a complete lockdown imposed. We need to think from both sides. It’s a serious issue right now, and the government needs to give a second thought.”
Whereas Rajdeepam Das says, “Yes complete lockdown is required instead of curfews for at least a week looking at the current situation. All big markets should be closed, marriages should be prohibited in the current time as they are super-spreaders of COVID-19. Home delivery e-commerce should be promoted to all areas. Last but not the least, public gatherings, clubs, bar etc should be locked permanently for at least 14 days.”
