BJP after winning the Assam Assembly Election for the second time, Sarbananda Sonowal stepped down from his Chief Minister designation and Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma was named as the new Chief Minister of Assam.

On the other hand, after the Prime Minister Cabinet reshuffle, several ministers including Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad resigned from their posts.
As Javadekar was the spokesperson of the government, the decision was shocking and unexpected.

The other ministers to resign include – chemicals and fertilisers minister DV Sadananda Gowda, labour minister Santosh Gangwar, education minister of state Sanjay Dhotre, minister of state for women and child development Debasree Chaudhuri, minister of state for jal shakti Rattan Lal Kataria, and minister of state for environment Babul Supriyo.
According to Modi, the major reshuffle is being done to bring focus on equal representation of gender, caste, and community. Also, the list of new ministers has a mix of youth and those who come with rich administrative experience, including former chief ministers.
