Guwahati News Desk: All schools to reopen on November 2 after a long gap due to COVID-19 pandemic as Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal directed the education department on Tuesday to maintain strict observation and care.

Schools to reopen in the state after a long gap of seven months, it was shutdown during the national lockdown announced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 25 due to increasing cases of COVID-19.

Sonowal urges the school authorities to start classes early in the morning by maintaining proper physical distance among students and to keep toilet clean and sanitised.

According to sources, the education department have decided to teach students of classes 6,7,9 and 12 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and classes of 8, 10, 11 students will come to school on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday in every week which will continue till further notice as decided by the administration. Audio-visual tool will be used such as story telling in the first month which will attract the students to get back to the mood of formal education.

Chief Minister urges to take regular yoga classes and health screening and also directed the education department to provide iron and folic acid tablets to students to boost their immunity.

Deputy Commissioners of all districts were directed to stay prepared for all kinds of emergency situation regarding COVID-19.
