Guwahati News Desk: Section 144 was imposed in the animal corridor of Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve (KNPTR) by a magistrate of the Bokakhat sub-division to protect the wild animals on National Highway 37 during the floods.

According to the sources, the order was issued by magistrate Bipul Das as all the vehicles will not be allowed to ply on the national highway.

As reports, from the animal corridor at Panbari under Bokakhat sub-division to Haldhibari at the speed not more than 40 km per hour.

According to the notification released by the magistrate that all heavy vehicles are strictly prohibited to park in front of hotels and restaurants along the National Highway in the restricted area.

Section 144 was immediately imposed in the animal corridor for the safety of the animals as during the monsoon seasons many animals come out from the forest area to the animal corridor to find out highlands during the flood as the speeding vehicles on the NH37 turn out to be the killers of the wild animals of Kaziranga National Park.

As every year’s animals of Kaziranga National Park gets killed after getting hit by vehicles while animals crossing the national highway.

As per sources, 80 per cent of the Kaziranga National Park reels under flood during the monsoon days.

Earlier, in the year 2016 due to heavy flood that submerged the national park 212 animals were killed by drowning and six animals were killed by speeding vehicles on the animal corridor.

Looking about the safety of the animals of Kaziranga National Park & Tiger Reserve section 144 is the only solution to eliminate animal accidents incidents in the national highway.
