Guwahati News Desk: The supreme leader of Taliban, Mullah Haibatullah Akhundzada, made his first public appearance in Afghanistan.
Belying the widespread rumours of his death, Akhundzada made a rare public appearance in the southern city of Kandahar on Sunday.
According to reports, Akhundzada also known as the leader of the faithful or Amir ul Momineen, had not been seen in public even after the Taliban tookover of the country in August, that gave rise to further speculation.
Moreover, the Taliban leader was last seen in an undated photograph, posted on a Taliban twitter feed in May 2016.
In addition, a senior Taliban leader who was present with Akhundzada during his recent appearance informed that the supreme leader had visited Jamia Darul Aloom Hakimia, a religious school in Kandahar on October 30.
