Malaya Nego, Tinsukia: Tutti frutti is a sweet and colourful confectionery candied fruits. Here, I’m using watermelon rinds which are normally discarded. It’s a simple, easy and a best out of waste recipe
Ingredients:
Watermelon’s waste part (white part of watermelon)
*Sugar
*Water
*Vanilla essence
*Food colours (Red, Green and Yellow)
Instructions:
Peel and discard the green part of the watermelon rinds. Take out the white portion only & cut it into small cubes. Place this into a saucepan and cover it with water. Bring it to a boil for about 15-20 minutes or until the pieces begin to look translucent. Drain off the water and keep it aside.
Then take 1&1/2 cup Sugar and 1&1/2 cup Water into the same pan. Add 1tsp vanilla essence. Add the strained watermelon pieces. Bring the mixture to a boil for 10minutes. Drain off the water and let it cool.
Now divide the watermelon pieces into 3 different bowls. Add 3 different food colours (few drops) in it and mix well.
Give rest for 2-3hrs and then drain it. Now spread into the plate and dry them under sunlight for 7-8hrs. And my Tutti Frutti is ready.
Transfer it into clean & sterile glass jars. Store in the refrigerator and can be used for a long time.
