Guwahati News Desk: Telangana Congress chief A. Revanth Reddy, has been placed under house arrest by the Hyderabad Police and his office claimed, on Monday.
Regarding the arrest, Reddy’s office said that he was to go to Delhi for the Parliament session, but police were deployed outside his house at 3 am, on Monday, and he was stopped from going out.
Earlier, Reddy had accused the state government of malfeasance in the auction of lands by the Hyderabad Municipal Development Authority. For which, he was planning a protest along with other Congress leaders over the auction alleging irregularities.
Reddy along with the other Congress leaders, who are thought to be involved in the plan, were allegedly put under house arrest.
Meanwhile, Reddy, claimed that he was put under house arrest and stopped from attending the Monsoon Session of Parliament.
Reddy said, âI was ready to go to Parliament but state government deployed police to place me on house arrest. It happened because state government sold some properties, over 50 acres of land, to some of their relatives, party leaders and IAS officer at undervalue.â
However, the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and the police denied the charge, stating that there was no such restriction and Reddy was free to attend the Parliament and that he was only restricted from visiting the auction site.
The TRS leader M. Krishank said, âWe have conducted transparent bidding. The Congress is making allegations and Revanth Reddy is not getting benefited in the auctioning. We are ready to face any kind of probe, be it CBI or the court.â
The police further added that Reddy was planning to visit Kokapeta, for which they took this step as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order.
The arrest happened before the Congress chief could visit the Kokapet area under Cyberabad where the auction took place.
