Guwahati News Desk: Top Maoist leader Tingraj Orang surrenders in Guwahati on Tuesday.
According to the sources, Orang was in-charge of CPI (Maoist) in Brahmaputra and Barak valleys. The Maoist surrendered himself before Additional Director General of Police of Special Branch Hiren Nath.
The 49-year-old surrendered Maoist who hails from Samuktola village in Dibrugarh district was the convener and the general secretary of its Brahmaputra and Barak valley zonal committees.
The surrendered of Orang is a major setback for CPT (Maoist|) in Assam as after his surrender, the CPI Maoist would become leaderless.
Earlier, Orang joined the CPI (Maoist) in the year 2016 and was also associated with SFI and CPI(M) from 1989 to 1999.
