Guwahati News Desk: The prominent Australian indigenous actor David Gulpilil breathed his last on Monday.
As per the reports, the 68-year-old actor was diagnosed with lung cancer four years ago, but on Monday Gulpilil’s health finally succumbed to the terrifying disease.
Expressing grief over the news of the actor’s death, South Australia’s Premier Steven Marshall said in a statement, “It is with deep sadness that I share with the people of South Australia the passing of an iconic, once-in-a-generation artist who shaped the history of Australian film and Aboriginal representation on screen — David Gulpilil Ridjimiraril Dalaithngu (AM).”
Regarding Gulpilil’s journey as an actor, he lit up the screen with his 1971 debut film “Walkabout”, after which the Australian film industry and his audience were gifted with numerous successful films by the eminent actor.
The Australian actor was a pioneering indigenous performer with talents including acting, singing and painting.
In addition, Gulpilil has also won multiple best-actor awards for his remarkable acting skills.
Moreover, after Gulpilil’s cancer diagnosis in 2017, he began to work on his first film as a producer, a documentary titled “My Name is Gulpilil,” which was directed by Molly Reynolds. This particular documentary was his most recent work that premiered earlier this year, which represented all the important aspects of Gulpili’s remarkable life.
