Guwahati News Desk: The Congress issued a show-cause notice to its 212 workers on Thursday for allegedly participating in anti-party activities during the Assam Assembly Elections.
The Congress ended up with the big losses in the polls for anti-party activities during the polls. During a press conference on Friday, the Chairman of the Disciplinary Action Committee of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) Bharat Chandra Narah had announced the name of the workers of 15 districts units who were found in anti-party activities during the State polls.
According to the sources, the APCC hold up a high-level inquiry committee to look into the matter and issued a show-cause notice to 212 Congress workers.
According to the sources, Narah added the workers had helped other party candidates directly and indirectly during the Assam polls which ended up Congress with big loss.
In the show-cause notice the recipients had asked to submit their replies with explanation within 15 days.
The show-cause notices received by Congress workers are 51 party workers in Lakhimpur district, 29 in Karimganj district, 26 in Dhubri district, 25 in Tinsukia distict, 19 from Kamrup Metro, 12 from Dibrugarh, 8 workers each from Karbi Anglong, Charaideo, Sonitpur, Hojai, 5 workers each from Nagaon and Hailakandi district, 4 workers received of Bongaigaon district, 2 of Kamrup and Biswanath district.
