Prime Minister Narendra Modi has initiated a project âAviation Reformâ under which five new airports to be set up with 6 heliports and 50 new air routes.
The Airport Authority of India (AAI) has set a target to complete the Hollongi Greenfield airport by November 2022 as PM Modi has stated that he aims to make the northeastern States the wheel of the development of the country.
According to the sources, the major problem government is facing while building the airport is land acquisition as many development projects were seen put on hold due to the massive reason.
The Hollongi Greenfield airport will be the first of its kind and will be the largest in the entire northeast States.
According to the sources, the Hollongi Greenfield airport started 10 years ago but due to land acquisition issues the project was slowed down as centre had provided compensation to the many affected people by the project.
The State government brought a total of 945 acres of land for the Greenfield airport at the rate of Rs 500 per square meter.
