Guwahati News Desk: Biswanath District of Assam has declared as the COVID hotspot by the District Administration on Friday.
Due to rapidly increasing COVID-19 positive cases in the district, the district administration has announced Biswanath as a COVID hotspot.
The hotspot areas are identified as Balichang, Monabari Bongali Bosti, Brahmajan Tea Garden and Dipora Dongi Village in the Biswanath district.
The government of Assam has also informed that atleast 220 hotspot zones were identified so far in the State as the administration need to take immediate action to break the COVID-19 positive increasing chain across the State.
The Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said there will be two kinds of containment areas, either the containment measures will clamp district wise or hotspot containment of COVID-19 during the coming days.
Chief Minister of Assam also added that CM to have a review meeting with the Deputy Administration of all district regarding the current COVID-19 situation in the State including providing containment zones as the new SoP will be declared on June 26 where further restrictions and guidelines will be mentioned looking at the current COVID situation in the State.
New 2,781 COVID-19 positive cases were reported as active cases reach 29,667 on Thursday.
New 1,24,019 COVID-19 tests were conducted in the State and 34 people died.
Kamrup Metro alone reported 162 new COVID-19 and 4 people died.
Whereas Sonitpur reported 228 new cases, Golaghat with 249 cases, Nagaon with 176 cases and Dibrugarh with 182 cases as the positivity rate of the state reached 2.24 per cent.
3,604 people recovered from COVID-19 as the recovery rate reaches 92.84 per cent.
