Guwahati News Desk: An eviction drive was conducted against the illegal encroachers at Borduar Reserve Forest under Kulsi Range under the Kamrup West Division on Thursday.
Forest officials cleared 1.5 hectare forest land and dismantled two illegal structures with the help of the administration.
The land will be used for plantation which will be carried out during the coming Vanamohtsava says forest officials.
The Environment and Forest Minister Parimal Suklabaidya said no one will be allowed to capture forest lands, wildlife sanctuaries and national parks across the State.
“Evictions will be carried out if anyone found encroaching on forest lands, wildlife sanctuaries, national parks, biosphere reserves and other protected areas”, says Parimal Suklabaidya.
The Government of Assam to work on protecting the forest lands which will not be allowed for any construction work.
“We cannot allow encroachments on our forest lands as they serve as oxygen concentrators and also put the lives of our present and future generations at peril”, Forest minister Suklabaidya added.
