Guwahati News Desk: Just days after coming into power, at least 2,300 terrorists have been set free by the Taliban.
The released terrorists include of several top commanders of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), al-Qaeda and Islamic State, who were locked up in the different prisons in Afghanistan.
Some of the released names include of Maulvi Faqir Mohammad, the former deputy chief of TTP (an anti-Pakistan terrorist organization), whose release could be a serious threat to both Afghanistan and Pakistan; Mullah Mohammad Rasool, the leader of Taliban splinter group, who was also released on Wednesday, after spending five years behind bars in Pakistan prison.
In the past week itself, the Taliban successfully released prisoners from Kandahar, Bagram and even from Kabul prisons.
After the former president Ashraf Ghani and his top ministers stepped down from their posts and fled the country on Sunday, the Taliban seized complete control of Afghanistan.
Moreover, after shutting down its embassy in Kabul, the US is now worried that with the return of the Taliban, the terrorist groups could reconstitute in Afghanistan much sooner than expected.
