Guwahati News Desk: As informed by Taiwan, nearly 27 Chinese aircraft entered its air defence buffer zone on Sunday.
According to Taiwan’s defence ministry, Sunday’s incursion included 18 fighter jets and five H-6 bombers, as well as a Y-20 aerial refueling aircraft.
According to a map by Taiwan authorities, the Chinese aircraft flew into Taiwan’s air defence identification zone near the southern part of the island and out into the Pacific Ocean before returning to China.
Moreover, the latest incursion comes after a US lawmaker defied a Chinese demand that she abandon a trip to the island. A Democrat from Michigan, Elissa Slotkin, wrote on Twitter after landing in Taiwan Thursday that her office received a “blunt message” from the Chinese embassy to call off the trip. The trip also includes Japan and South Korea.
Furthermore, the frequency of Chinese incursions has increased over the past year, with about 150 aircraft over a period of four days.
