Guwahati News Desk: More than 30 people were killed and their bodies burnt in Myanmar’s conflict-torn Kayah state on Friday.
According to sources, the government troops in Myanmar had fatally shot more than 30 villagers that further included of several women and children.
However, the Karenni Human Rights Group informed that they found the burnt bodies of internally displaced people killed by the military that rules Myanmar, near Mo So village of Hpruso town on Saturday.
The director of the Karenni Human Rights Group, Banyar Khun Aung, said, “It’s a heinous crime and the worst incident during Christmas. We strongly condemn that massacre as a crime against humanity.”
Regarding the cause behind the terrifying event, it has been reported that a fight broke out near Mo So on Friday, in which members of ethnic guerrilla forces, known as the Karenni National Progressive Party, and those opposed to the military drove in “suspicious” vehicles and attacked security forces after refusing to stop.
Meanwhile, the Myanmar military said it had shot and killed an unspecified number of “terrorists with weapons” from the opposition armed forces in the village. Asserting that the people were in seven vehicles and did not stop for the military.
However, the government has not commented on the allegations.
Moreover, it was earlier this month, when the government troops were also accused of rounding up villagers, some believed to be children, tying them up and slaughtering them.
