Guwahati News Desk: Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that three police command battalions will be deployed along the Assam-Mizoram border to protect its constitutional borders.
Every battalion will have at least 1200 commanders which will raise to 4000 commandoes.
The three commando battalions will be raised at Karimganj, Hailakandi and Silchar in the bordering areas of Assam-Mizoram.
On Monday at least six Assam Police personnel were killed in a massive shootout that took place at Lailaput in Cachar district.
According to the reports, a civilian was also killed in the crossfire and vehicles of Deputy Commissioner of Cachar was also damaged.
During the border clash with Mizoram, at least 67 people were injured including civilians in the district.
The injured people were immediately admitted to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital.
The major outbreak of the incident took place in the Assam-Mizoram border as eight farm huts belonging to Mizo farmers were burned down by unidentified miscreants on Sunday which leads to this major chaos in the State borders.
Soon after the incident, the Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma directed minister Pijush Hazarika to visit immediately in the border area and take stock of the escalating situation.
CM Sarma expressed his willingness to visit the capital city Aizawl and resolve the prevailing border issues.
