Prantik Deka: Located in the heart of Guwahati, Acting Pathsala – a new acting academy, celebrates its one-year anniversary with a colourful cultural function held at the Gauhati Town Club auditorium on May 15. This acting institution is steadily making an impact with its engrossing professional course that focuses on developing technical acting and dancing skills for the camera.

The anniversary programme started with a riveting Sattriya dance performance by the popular dancer-actress Rodali Bora. On the occasion, the State’s multiple international and national award-winning filmmaker Manju Borah was felicitated by Rosy Bora, CEO and founder of Acting Pathsala. The citation presented to Borah was read out by eminent senior journalist and litterateur Jitumoni Bora. Manju Borah during her speech remarked that reading books provides actors enough material to analyze and appreciate. “It not only stimulates imagination, but also helps to improve one’s memory,” she said. She also pointed out that it’s very difficult to make a living as an actor in the State.
A lot of aspiring actors hailing from towns and villages dream about living and working in Guwahati. An acting school can help an aspiring actor get a head start in his or her acting career. The course at the Acting Pathsala has been specially designed to help youngsters not just develop their acting skills but also grow in confidence and ability.

The other special guests include noted actor Sadhan Hazarika, filmmaker Rajen Rajkhowa, noted Sattriya danseuse Ranjumoni Saikia, popular tele star Priyanka Bora, actor Kamalochan Das, among others.

The cultural institute has undertaken a number of initiatives to move forward in the near future. The students of the academy also presented skits and short plays, even dance performances to popular Assamese and Hindi numbers that regaled the audiences. A short film titled ‘Enajori’ directed by Rosy Bora and featuring the students of the institute was also screened on the occasion. Manju Borah also distributed certificates to the students of the school.
