Guwahati News Desk: Hundreds of Afghans protested outside a bank in Kabul as others formed long lines at ATM machines.

The protest took place outside the New Kabul Bank, on Saturday.

During the protest, the Afghans expressed their anger that even though banks reopened three days ago, no one has been able to withdraw cash, and also because the withdrawals in the ATM machines (still operating), are limited to only $200 every 24 hours, which further contributed to the formation of the long ATM lines.

The crowd of protesters included of many civil servants, who demanded for their salaries, saying that they had not been paid for the past three to six months.

Meanwhile, a UN agency warned that a worsening drought could leave millions in need of humanitarian aid.

Furthermore, the economic crisis could give the Western nations leverage as they urge Afghanistan’s new rulers to form an inclusive government and allow people to leave after the planned withdrawal of all US forces on August 31.
