Guwahati News Desk: Cristiano Ronaldo will be returning back to Manchester United, the team that turned him into a global superstar.
Just a day after telling Juventus that he no longer wanted to play for the Italian club, Ronaldo secured a return to Old Trafford on Friday.
The fast-moving deal between Ronaldo and Manchester United left the world of soccer and his fans stunned.
A tweet posted by United read, “Welcome back, Cristiano.”
After Ronaldo’s return was sealed on Friday, the current Man United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, said, “He is the greatest player of all time, definitely.”
Ronaldo will be joining for a fee of 15 million euros ($17. 7 million), with 8 million euros ($9.4 million) in add-ons. The transfer is subject to agreement of personal terms, visa and a medical examination.
As per the sources, it was on Thursday, when Ronaldo met with Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri and told him he wanted to leave the club where he had spent the last three years after joining from Madrid. He had one year left on his contract.
Through an Instagram post Ronaldo expressed that he gave his “heart and soul for Juventus” and said that he would always love the city of Turin until his final days.
“In the end,” Ronaldo said, “we can all look back and realize that we achieved great things, not all that we wanted, but still, we wrote a pretty beautiful story together.”
Furthermore, it is not the first time when United has beaten City to a player that both the clubs apparently wanted. Alexis Sanchez joined United in 2018 after appearing to be close to moving to City, while United was prepared to pay 80 million pounds (then $97 million) to sign Harry Maguire from Leicester in 2019, a sum City didn’t try to match.
