Guwahati News Desk: All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) MLA of Bhabanipur constituency Phanidhar Talukdar is likely to join Bharatiya Janata Party on August 21.
AIUDF MLA Phanidhar Talukdar earlier denied joining BJP but was later likely to join the party. Former Congress MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi and Sushanta Borgohain recently join the saffron party.
According to the sources, MLA Talukdar possibility of joining the BJP came into highlight he clarified that he had not taken any decision to join the saffron.
However, the Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma claimed that MLA Phanidhar Talukdar contracted several times and shows interest to join the party by the last week of August.
According to the sources, earlier, Assam BJP President Bhabesh Kalita said Phanidhar Talukdar would join the saffron party during the end of August.
MLA Bhabanipur Assembly falls under the newly-created Bajali district of Assam which shares a border with neighboring nation Bhutan.
His current party AIUDF has not made any statement regarding the changes of the political party of MLA Talukdar.
