Guwahati News Desk: Assam Minister Atul Bora and Ashok Singhal reached Aizawl to hold a discussion with the officials of the Mizoram government regarding the border dispute of Assam and Mizoram.

According to the sources, the Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma directed Assam Ministers Atul Bora and Ashok Singhal to visit Mizoram with a message of peace from the people of Assam.

Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga said he would not be able to meet the Assam Ministers as he was in quarantine after one of his office staff has tested positive for COVID-19.

On July 26, a massive border clash took place in the Assam-Mizoram where 6 Assam Police personnel was killed in the hands of Mizoram Police including one civilian at Lailapur in Cachar district. More than 67 people were injured during the clash.

Minister Atul Bora tweeted, “As directed by Hon’ble CM Dr @himantabiswa, I along with colleague Shri @TheAshokSinghal and Border Protection & Development Dept Commissioner & Secretary Shri GD Tripathi, on our way to Aizawl, Mizoram for talks to further peace and harmony.”
In the Assam-Mizoram border clash, the people of Assam have reportedly blocked Tripura bound goods vehicles at Karimganj district on Monday.
According to the sources, Tripura tried to send goods vehicles for Mizoram via alternate routes as the people of Assam have made economic blockades after the killing of six Assam Police Personnel by Mizoram Police last week.

According to the sources, hundreds of vehicles were stopped by the people of Assam at Assam-Tripura National Highway No 6 on Monday due to the border clash.

Later, a cargo flight made its way to Mizoram from Silchar Airport after all the goods vehicles were stopped in the national highway to enter Mizoram by the people of Assam.
