Guwahati News Desk: The Akshaya Patra Foundation that operates a school lunch programme, has kick-started its new centralized mid-day meal kitchen at Amingaon, Guwahati.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Minister of Health and Education, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on January 20 inaugurated the kitchens which have the capacity to serve 50,000 meals per day.
CM Sonowal tweeted on the initiative of the foundation and wrote, “Inaugurated the Centralised Mid-Day Meal Kitchen of @AkshayaPatra in Guwahati, which will serve meals to 50,000 students daily. The foundation is doing wonderful work in providing nutritious mid-day meals to students and I laud them for their efforts.”
Regional Executive Engineer of the Airports Authority of India, Suresh M and Chanchalapathi Dasa, Vice-Chairman of The Akshaya Patra Foundation also grace the event.
