Guwahati News Desk: The Assam Power Distribution Company Limited has faced a loss of over Rs 1000 crore as announced by officials on Friday.
The statement was passed during a press conference meet of APDCL held in the Bijuli Bhawan on July 2.
During the press conference, APDCL official Bhaskar Jyoti Bora said around 70 per cent of people did not pay their power bills and 53 per cent of people are yet to pay their power bills currently. The State has received a total of Rs 12.11 crore power bills marking today.
The demand for the power bills was Rs 513 crore but the department has received an amount of Rs 508 crore, said APDCL officials in the conference.
According to the sources, 611 complaints has been registered on power theft.
Earlier, the APDCL has disconnected the electricity supply of Ayursundra Hospital of Gorchuk.
The power supply of Swastik Engineers has been disconnected too and the office of the local media channel DY365 is also affected.
The power supply was disconnected due to heavy pending of bills that is taking the APDCL company into loss.
Ayursundra Hospital power supply was disconnected as the due amount is Rs 36,21,870 and Swastik Engineers due amount is Rs 13,90,770 till June 26 this year.
Recently, the Assam Power Minister Bimal Borah informed that customers of APDCL can pay the unpaid electricity bill in large amounts in the instalments process.
According to the sources, the unpaid electricity bills upto Rs 30,000 can be paid in 10 instalments while the bill between Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000 can be paid in 15 instalments.
The Assam Power Minister said, “People who have received electricity bills up to Rs 30 thousand can pay in 10 instalments by discussing the matter with the Assistant General Manager”.
For the electricity bill between Rs 30 to Rs 50 thousand customers can enable to pay in 15 instalments after discussing the matter with the circle Deputy General Manager’s Office.
According to the sources, people who need to clear electricity bills over Rs 50 thousand can discuss the matter with the Chief Manager of Commercial at Bijuli Bhawan.
