Guwahati News Desk: A Delhi court on Monday has convicted Ariz Khan alias Junaid in the 2008 Batla House encounter case.
Ariz Khan is a most-wanted terrorist of Indian Mujahideen, was arrested by the Delhi Police Special Cell in 2018 after he had managed to escape the Batla House encounter in 2008.
The encounter killed police inspector Mohan Chand Sharma and two alleged terrorists.
The Court convicted Junaid under sec. 186, 333, 353, 302, 307, 174A , 34 of IPC and 27 of Arms Act.
While pronouncing the judgement, Additional Sessions Judge Sandeep Yadav said, “The evidence adduced on record by the prosecution leaves no matter of doubt that the prosecution has proved the case beyond all reasonable doubt and that the accused is liable to be convicted. It has been proved that the accused Ariz Khan managed to escape during the shootout and failed to appear before the court despite proclamation. Accordingly accused is held guilty and convicted under sec. 186, 333, 353, 302, 307, 174A, 34 of IPC and 27 of Arms Act.”
