Guwahati News Desk: National Highway 9 and National Highway 24 at the Uttar Pradesh-Delhi border are closed on Monday due to the ongoing protests against farm laws.
Whereas, heavy traffic is reported on NH 44 and Narela. The traffic police also advised commuters to avoid the Outer Ring Road, GTK Road and NH 44.
Delhi Traffic Police in a Twitter post wrote, “Due to protest of Kisan Andolan, Nainital highway No. 9 and NH-24 is closed at the point of UP Gate. Traffic is heavy in both carriageways. The diversion has been given from Delhi towards Ghaziabad.”
Additional CP Traffic A.K. Singla said, “Singhu and Singhu school borders are closed. Auchandi, Lampur, Safiabad, Saboli, Piau Maniyari and Palla toll tax borders are open. Please follow alternate routes.”
For over three months, thousands of farmers, mostly from Punjab, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh, have been camping at the Delhi border points Singhu, Tikri and Ghazipur demanding the repeal of contentious farm laws and a legal guarantee on the minimum support price (MSP) for their crops.
