Guwahati News Desk: Assam Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary issued an order on Saturday to conduct an army flag march at Bokakhat due to the rising cases of COVID-19 during the recent days.
The army flag march started on Saturday in Bokakhat due to the worsening situation in several districts of Assam due to increasing cases of COVID-19. The recent SOP released by the government of Assam has imposed total containment zones in the seven districts in order to prevent any further spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Minister also ordered an army flag march in Golaghat and Sarupathar respectively from Sunday and Monday.
Golaghat reported new 209 COVID-19 cases on Friday whereas Assam reported new 2,493 COVID-19 positive cases as the positivity rate increase to 2.13 percent. Assam conducted 1,17,087 COVID-19 tests as active cases reach 21,689 and the recovery rate is 94.75 percent.
24 people died due to COVID-19 on Friday in the State and 2,481 people were discharged from the hospital. Kamrup Metro tops among the district in Assam with new 247 cases.
Due to the sudden increase of COVID-19 cases in Goalpara, Golaghat, Jorhat, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Sonitpur, and Morigaon, the districts are under containment.
