Guwahati News Desk: Biswanath district Guardian Minister Pijush Hazarika issued strict instruction to the district and the police administration on Friday to destroy all illegal liquor hubs in Biswanath in three days.

At his research, the minister said that it has figured out that areas where illegal liquor hubs exist transform into COVID hotspots.

Minister Hazarika also cited examples from other districts to corroborate his findings.

Minister Pijush Hazarika said while reviewing the COVID-19 situation in the district, “If we are to control the Covid situation in Biswanath district, all liquor hubs will have to be destroyed within three days. There will be no compromise on this ground. I want everyone to take this order with utmost seriousness.”

The Minister also urges the administration and health department to ramp up vaccination in and around areas that have been identified as COVID hotspots.

He also further added to minimize the risk of positive patients transmitting the virus to others, home isolation should not be encouraged at all.

The Biswanath district is currently under curfew from June 28 which was imposed to blink down the positivity rate of rising COVID-19 cases.

Earlier, the positivity rate of Biswanath district was 3.35 per cent as it has dropped down to 2.77 per cent due to the ongoing curfew.

Minister Hazarika also reviewed the ongoing projects under the Public Health and Engineering (PHE) department and also issued instructions to the concerned officials to expedite the projects under Jal Jeevan Mission and to ensure the works get completed within the given deadlines.

During the review meeting Biswanath district Guardian Secretary Rajesh Prasad, Deputy Commissioner Pranab Kumar Sarmah, SP Ripul Das, SDO (C) Gohpur Aditya Vikram Yadav and other administrative officers and head of various departments were seen present.
