Guwahati News Desk: In the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, an army soldier was killed, after the soldier accidentally stepped on a landmine.
The explosion took place on Friday, in the Krishna Ghati sector of J&K.
According to sources, along with the soldier who was killed, another suffered severe injuries in the explosion.
As per the sources, the accident occurred Friday night, when Sepoy Kamal Dev Vaidya, was on an operational duty in Krishna Ghati Sector of the line of control (LoC) in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The army stated, “While moving during the duty, Sepoy Kamal Dev Vaidya was critically injured in an accidental mine blast. He was immediately evacuated to the nearest medical facility but later succumbed to his injuries.”
The 27-year old, Sepoy Kamal Dev Vaidya, belonged to a village named Ghumarwin in the Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh.
The army added, “Sepoy Kamal Dev Vaidya was a brave, highly motivated and sincere soldier. The Nation will always remain indebted to him for the supreme sacrifice and devotion to duty.”
