Guwahati News Desk: Assam government is considering to bring new laws for the bride and groom to declare their religion and income a month ago before their marriage.
According to the sources, Finance Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said the law is not against ‘love jihad’ is an aim to empower women of the state. Sarma also added that the proposed law was not entirely like the ‘anti-love jihad laws’ which was implemented in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, bout would be similar.
The law will be made mandatory for the man and the woman of Assam to disclose their religion including their source of income. profession, permanent address before wedding as failing would take legal action.
