Guwahati News Desk: The Indian National Congress Party of Assam has started a rally against the current government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party over the increasing price of essential commodities at Rajiv Bhawan in Guwahati on Wednesday.
According to the sources, the party has staged a rally over price hikes as the party has come together and demanded the government to stop the price of rice on all essential commodities.
The life of the people is still upside down due to the pandemic which has affected the people’s life socially and economically and the current government has hiked the price of all items including the basic essentials says Congress.
During the rally, the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has demanded the current BJP government for an immediate solution regarding the regular price hike in Assam. Soon after the protest rally, the Guwahati Police have detained the protestors at Rajiv Bhawan.
On the first day of the Budget Session of the Assam Assembly on Monday, Speaker Biswajit Daimary had refused to allow discussion on the fuel price hike and other essential commodities.
The opposition parties Assam Congress, CPI(M), and AIUDF have brought three adjournment motions to discuss the issue of the rising cooking cylinder, petrol, diesel, and other essentials like cooking oil as later it was declined by the Speaker to accept discussion.
