Guwahati News Desk: Assam government to work with the Spices Board of India announced by the Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Chief Minister of Assam directed the State agriculture department to coordinate with the Spices Board of India for the purpose.
The government of Assam holds a meeting with the board officials about the scope for enhancing prospects and potential of the spices sector in Assam.
During the meeting, the chief minister took a specific review of the cultivation of spices in the State. CM also urges agriculture department to use expertise of the Spices Board for large scale commercialisation as Assam has high-value species such as ginger, chilli etc.
Considering the potentiality of high-value spices such as ginger, chilli and their varieties, he asked the agriculture department to use expertise of the Spices Board for large-scale commercialisation of these items.
In the meeting the government discussed about the needed infrastructural and entrership development in the spices sector in the State. The State Minister of Agriculture and Horticulture Minister Atul Bora asked to create modalities to work with the Spices Board of India for promotion of the species sector in the State.
