Guwahati News Desk: Assam Guardian Ministers for Cachar district Ashok Singhal and Forest Minister Parimal Suklabaidya visited Lailapur and urges it’s locals to withdraw the unofficial economic blockade and allow vehicles to resume movement to Mizoram from Assam on Saturday.
The government of Assam has asserted that from the time of border dispute
there has been no official economic blockade along the border. But the movement of vehicles were not seen due to fear of attack.
After the peaceful discussion of the Assam Ministers with the locality to withdraw unofficial economic blockade they have agreed to withdraw it most likely from Saturday night.
According to the sources, while the ministers having fruitful discussions with the members of the truck association, the localities started pelting stones on them and damaged two stranded goods vehicles stuck in the border road with Mizoram.
Soon after the incident and attack Cachar district Superintendent of Police Ramandeep Kaur with police officials immediately rushed on the spot to control the situation. Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli also rush on the spot.
Forest Minister said that the safety of the locals in the first priority for the government and all necessary support is being ensured.
According to the sources, the Assam government claims that the local and some organisation had restored an unofficial economic blockade with Mizoram in the bordering area for killing of six Assam Police personnel and one civilian on July 26.
