Guwahati News Desk: Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced on Wednesday to set up 10 professional commando battalions in Assam.
The announcement was made at the first-ever SP’s conference held in Kaziranga as the professional commando battalions will be formed to deal and fight against the new forms of crimes across the State.
During the conference, the CM also said that the deliberations will be held to discuss routes for modernising police forces in the State to handle and eliminate new types of crimes detected by the police.
A total of 23 thousand civil police personnel and 12 thousand commando police personnel to be added for the purpose.
According to the sources, professional qualified and skilled manpower will be added to the new forces.
It was also announced by the CM that police quarters will be constructed and two shifts will be introduced to reduce the workload of the police officials.
