Guwahati News Desk: In a shocking revelation, the Assam Police in collaboration with the Dubai Police have recovered a limited edition Hublot watch which belonged to the late legendary footballer Diego Maradona. One, Wazid Hussein from the Moranhat area in Assam’s Charaideo district has been arrested by the Assam Police in connection with this case.
The Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to Twitter to inform the people about this latest development. He said that Assam Police collaborated with the Dubai Police through Indian Federal LEA and recovered the heritage Hublot watch which belonged to the late Argentinian maestro and arrested the accused Wazid Hussein.
He tweeted, “In an act of international cooperation @assampolice has coordinated with @dubaipoliceHQ through Indian federal LEA to recover a heritage @Hublot watch belonging to legendary footballer Late Diego Maradona and arrested one Wazid Hussein. Follow up lawful action is being taken.”
Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, the Assam Director General of Police (DGP) stated that the accused was arrested from the Moranhat area in Assam’s Charaideo district last night.
“We have received information that Wazid Hussein is suspected in a case involving theft of a safe belonging to the late football player Diego Maradona. The suspect had worked as a security guard for a company in Dubai that was storing the late player’s belongings. After a few days on the job, he had asked for his employer’s permission to return to India in connection with his father’s illness and he arrived at Indira Gandhi International airport, Delhi on August 15 this year,” the Assam DGP said.
Meanwhile, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Sivasagar district revealed further information about the accused person. He revealed that the Wazid Hussein originally hails from Sivasagar district and he was arrested from his in-laws house at Moranhat area in Charaideo district last night.
