Guwahati News Desk: The first consignment of ‘red rice’ which is grown in the Brahmaputra valley of Assam was flagged off to the United States on Wednesday.
The iron rich ‘red rice’ was grown without the use of any chemical fertilizer.
The rice variety is referred to as ‘Bao-dhaan’ which is an important part of Assamese food
The growth of the red rice’ would enhance incomes for the families of farmers of the Brahmaputra flood plains, says Ministry Commerce and Industry.
