Guwahati News Desk: Bollywood Fashionista and actor Chitrangada Singh dolled up for a photoshoot wearing Assamese attire Mekhala Chador designed by renowned designer Sanjukta Dutta to pay tribute to the artisans appreciating their hard work on the occasion of National Handloom Day on Saturday.
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the market and daily earning of the weavers and has majorly affected the handloom industry.
According to the sources, many celebrities has come forward to share helping hands and provide support to the artisans which will help to boost their morale and increase the hopes of the weavers to continue their work with their uncountable skills which can now set a major boost in the handloom industry and also to increase their living specially during the pandemic.
As per sources, many government initiatives were taken to revive the handloom industry to boost its economic.
Actor Chitrangada Singh said, “Handloom products is my all-time favourite and I use to wear it regularly. It’s a total delight to wear Assamese attire Mekhela Chador designed by renowned fashion designer Sanjukta Dutta which take almost 20 to 25 days of hard work and more than 100 workers to make a single piece of Mekhela Chador.”
Actor Chitrangada also wished designer Sanjukta for the future to continue with her amazing skills in preparing such beautiful attire which has a big value and to preserve the heritage.
During the shoot, designer Sanjukta said it’s a pleasure to work with beautiful actor Chitrangada Singh who is looking stunning in the Mekhela Chador and also holds a vote of thanks to her for the love and courage given to all the artisans who had faced a lot during the pandemic.
