Guwahati News Desk: After the resuming of inter-district travel and allowing of pillion riding and opening of religious places in the State from September 1, the decision of reopening of cinema halls in Guwahati and across the State is still on hold.
Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the government will take the decision of reopening of cinema halls within 15 days by reviewing the ongoing COVID-19 situation.
The officials of State government will monitor the scenario of the COVID-19 situation for the next 15 days. According to the sources, the decision of the opening of cinema halls will be taken based on the low infection rate in the city.
The cinema halls were in big loss from the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in the State however it was opened for few days but since April month the State government have closed down the entire cinema halls across the State due COVID-19 second wave.
According to the sources, more than 2,000 employees were engaged in 80 cinema halls across the State and they have been facing hard days due to lockdown and pandemic.
