Guwahati News Desk: Assam reported new 2,640 COVID-19 positive cases while the positivity rate increases to 2.27 per cent on Monday. 1,16,542 COVID-19 tests were conducted in Assam in the last 24 hours

31 COVID-19 death were reported in the State and 2,521 more positive patients were discharged and recovered from COVID-19. However, active cases drop to 22,243.

The districts that reported the highest number of COVID-19 cases are Golaghat 333 cases, Sonitpur 233 cases, Kamrup Metro 197 cases, and Jorhat 151 cases.
District wise death reported in Assam are Dibrugarh (5), Golaghat (4), Jorhat (3), Sonitpur (3), Cachar (2), Dhubri (2), Hailakandi (2), Hojai (2), Charaideo, Chirang, Karimganj, Kokrajhar, Morigaon, Nalbari, Sivasagar and Tinsukia reported 1 death case.
Total COVID-19 tests conducted is 1,54,44,912 as 5,19,834 COVID positive cases were reported. Till date, 4,91,561 people have been discharged and recovered from COVID-19 in Assam.

In Assam, 4,683 people died due to COVID-19 as the recovery rate stands to 94.56 per cent.
On the other hand, 4.50 lakh test per million population as COVID-19 death is 0.90 per cent. 1,347 COVID-19 positive patients died for other reasons.

Meanwhile, positive cases have been seen to increase in Kamrup district in the recent days after 197 new COVID-19 positive cases reported. It can be said the reason for increasing cases might be the expansion of curfew timing in Guwahati. Earlier, the curfew timing is from 2 pm as all the shops, market places, commercial establishments were closed down by 1 pm.

Earlier, the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has revised the curfew timing in Kamrup Metro by extending it to 5 pm from 2 pm as currently all the shops, business establishments, offices, market places, etc were allowed to operate till 4 pm.

The odd/even rule was seen continued in Guwahati and the inter-district restriction was banned.
Hello Guwahati in conversation with a Guwahati resident, “The latest case of COVID-19 is 197 in Guwahati and the cases are increasing mainly due to the extension of curfew timing as people got more time for interaction and seen floating in the market areas.”
